Parallel Lines

Grab your shoes
Let’s go out for a walk
We don’t need to use
Our smartphones to talk
We can take the trail
Wherever it leads
And I’ll be there
For whatever you need

If we don’t turn back
Until after the sun goes down
Then we can take the train tracks
All the way into town
We are alive, we are parallel lines
Moving through space and time
At each other’s side

Walking along the rail
Like a tightrope
You said even if we fail
There’s a slight hope
But somewhere out there
I got lost in you
Acting like you don’t care
You always played it so cool

If we don’t turn back

I think I see smoke
Just over the horizon
It’s like going for broke
When you’re barely surviving
What do we leave behind
In the dark?
