Don't look behind you
Try to play it cool
They'll never find you
Just obey these basic rules
You're so suspicious
Of what you don't know
Their motives are surreptitious
According to that show
You're so selective
In what you believe
It's all subjective
As far as you can see
You think they're all out to get you
I think you might be kind of paranoid
But if they ever finally catch you
You know I'll thank you for the schadenfreude
You think they're listening
To every word you say
It's not that interesting
I'm sorry to have to say
What makes you so important
In your own mind?
Believing an assortment
Of second-hand headlines
It might be worth a mention
For you to realize
They have their own agendas
For selling you these lies
You think they're all out to get you
I think you might be kind of paranoid
But if they ever finally catch you
You know I'll thank you for the schadenfreude
Reality's really not up to you
Nor is it popular opinion
We need a universal truth
A secular religion
A certain set of facts
Upon which we can agree
To keep society intact
And set everyone free
I think we'll call it science
We'll make the most of it
It doesn't require compliance
In order to exist
You think they're all out to get you
I think you might be kind of paranoid
But if they ever finally catch you
You know I'll thank you for the schadenfreude
I hope you understand
Or even empathize
We're all just human
Beings trying to get by
Don't believe everything you read
Or see upon your screen
Recognize basic need
And know what it means
We all want the same things
To live a good life
So don't fear changing
And open up your blinds
You think they're all out to get you
I think you might be kind of paranoid
But if they ever finally catch you
You know I'll thank you for the schadenfreude
